Lots of people get to a point

in life where they feel like something's missing. They think there's more to life than what they have. They might even look around and see that they have everything that's supposed to make them happy – like a great partner, a perfect job, amazing kids, and awesome friends. But still, they feel like something's not right.

Even though they have all these good things, they might feel empty inside. And then there are others who realize that nothing in their life is really making them happy. They might think they need to change everything – like their relationships, job, hobbies, and other parts of their life.

For people going through this, they might not have found their true purpose in life yet. They're still trying to figure out what they're really meant to do.

Discovering your purpose

in life is really important for feeling happy and content. If people can't figure out their purpose, they might start feeling down or anxious. People naturally want to understand why they're here and what they're meant to do in life.

Sometimes, if one part of your life isn't going well, you might feel like your whole life is off track. This can happen whether you're a parent, a good friend, aiming for a meaningful career, exploring spirituality or religion, and so on.

For some, it might be

necessary to make big changes in many parts of their life to find happiness. Others might only need to focus on improving one specific area.

How you feel about your purpose can change and grow as you get older. What you thought you were meant to do when you were in your twenties might feel strange and difficult to continue in your thirties and forties.

Your life

doesn't have to be all about just one purpose – you can have many purposes that change over your lifetime. For instance, when you're in your twenties or thirties, you might believe your purpose is to be the best mom you can be to your kids. But when your kids grow up and start school or move out, your purpose might shift to finding a job you find meaningful or focusing on charitable work.

All these different

purposes are important, and they can actually support each other. You don't have to give up one thing to start another. You can continue being a great parent and a good friend to your grown-up kids while also having a satisfying career and a fulfilling life.

A lot of people find it hard to deal with life changes and don't know how to discover a fresh sense of purpose and significance. Some folks haven't been able to figure out their purpose so far.

Your therapist

will notice the things you do and the parts of your life that have made you feel happy and content in the past. This can be really important in helping you figure out what your purpose in life might be. Usually, we tend to do similar activities, enjoy the same hobbies, and connect with certain types of people who offer help or become part of our relationships.
